This facility has given me the most positive results and experience in my physical therapy journey. Tommy is deeply attentive and genuinely cares about building relationships with each of his patients. He works to understand the root of each issue and creates effective strengthening workout plans. He also does a great job of explaining treatments and the problems that need to be addressed. It is clear that he brings extensive experience and deep passion to his work. The office environment is also very professional and welcoming. I highly recommend this facility to anyone seeking high-quality physical therapy.

I have been skeptical of PT because it has not helped much in the past with my chronic back/neck/shoulder pain. However, my doctor has been badgering me for months to give it another try, and recommended this facility. I have been pleasantly surprised. Tommy is knowledgeable, professional and experienced, truly cares about his patients, and takes the time to listen. He is always prepared with a game plan, but will change it up completely if you arrive with a new issue or asking for a more or less challenging session. His approach is both evidence-based and intuitive, and is producing definite improvements in my range of motion and pain levels. The facility is well-run and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. Shout-outs to Lorena, the receptionist, who is helpful and kind, and Diandra, an assistant PT, who is efficient and patient (I also enjoy her large collection of Hawaiian shirts:). Overall, a great choice if you’re looking for PT that will make a difference.

"Dr. Thomas Miller, or 'Tommy,' is an exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled physical therapist—and an all-around great person. I came to see Tommy for severe pain in my left shoulder. From the start, the entire experience was outstanding. The clinic itself is spotless and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, offering both private rooms and an open space for various therapy methods. There is also easy to find street parking. The team is fantastic as well. Lorena, the receptionist, is kind, friendly, and incredibly helpful with any questions. Diandra, the PT tech, ensures you maintain proper form and tracks your reps and technique with care. And then there’s Tommy himself—his depth of knowledge about how the body works, combined with his ability to accurately diagnose problems and design the most effective rehabilitation programs, is truly second to none. He provided me with at-home rehab exercises in an app, complete with images and instructions, making it easy to follow his guidance correctly between visits. What impressed me most was the combination of his clinical expertise with first-class professionalism, respect for privacy, and excellent bedside manner. After just a few visits and by following his program, the pain and weakness in my arm improved dramatically, and within a few weeks, I was pain-free and regaining strength. If you live in the Pasadena area—or even if you have to drive a bit—I highly recommend visiting Tommy and his team for the best possible care. Thank you, Tommy, Lorena, and Diandra, for helping me get strong and pain-free again!" — Christian

Had a great experience and made a lot of progress due to the efforts of Thomas. Spine and Sport PT in Pasadena is a place I highly recommend for anyone in need of PT. Thomas is hard working, knowledgeable and truly cares about the success of his patients. I will be a repeat customer should I require further PT.

I really had a fun experience with Spine and Sport Physical Therapy-Pasadena family!💖 From having a painful injury to feeling so good and normal right now! I really appreciate them taking time to help me get through my injury and for being accomodating for some last minute reschedules. They will really walk you through all the exercises that will help your injury and it's not also hard to work with Thomas and Diandra, they treat you like a friend who's in need of help to get better. Also, Lorena is by far the best and easy person I've talked to and very welcoming! If you need PT session, Spine and Sport Physical Therapy-Pasadena is the best place to be. 🥰

Commonly Asked Questions & What to Expect During Your PT Treatment

Do I need to see a doctor first?

Thanks to direct access, we can see any patient without a referral from a doctor for an initial evaluation. If our therapists believe that physical therapy is a good option for your needs, we can work with you and your physician to obtain a prescription for continued care. If your diagnosis requires additional expertise, we can also refer you to a specialist to handle your care.

What do I need to bring to my first visit?

For your first visit, be sure to bring the following items:

  • Prescription for physical therapy from your referring physician (if applicable)
  • Government issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license)
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Patient forms, which can be downloaded from this site in PDF format. Print and fill out the forms completely and bring them during your first visit.
  • Patients who are minors (under 18 years of age) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for their first visit.

What should I wear to physical therapy?

Please wear or bring comfortable athletic/workout clothing to change into. This includes shorts or sweatpants, a t-shirt and sneakers. Your attire should also allow easy access to your injured area for treatment by your physical therapist.

What can I expect during my first visit?

During your first visit, your therapist will perform a thorough examination, in which he or she will review your physician’s recommendations, examine the problem area, ask questions about your injury or pain, develop an effective treatment plan for rehabilitation, discuss their findings with you and answer any questions you may have. Your treatment plan may include hands-on, manual therapy, a customized exercise program, stretching and physical agents such as heat, ice, ultrasound and electrical stimulation. Your physical therapist may also recommend a home program to further assist in your treatment.

How long will my appointment take?

Your first appointment will typically last from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on your injury. Following appointments usually last between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the treatment. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your appointment for check-in and paperwork. You can also download our patient forms, which can be filled out beforehand and brought with to your appointment.

How often will I need to come?

The frequency of your treatment will depend on your physician’s prescription and the plan of care developed by your physical therapist. Most patients require treatment two to three times per week. The duration of treatment will depend on your injury and personal progress. Your physical therapist will discuss this with you following your initial exam and subsequently as you progress.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

If you are unable to attend an appointment, we require at least 24 hours' notice. However, we do understand than an occasional emergency or illness may arise, in which case you may have to cancel your appointment closer to your scheduled time.

Do you accept insurances? Will insurance cover my therapy?

We accept most major insurances including Medicare, Tricare and workers’ compensation plans. Before your initial visit, we will verify in and out of network benefits with your insurance company. The cost of therapy is determined by the benefits of your insurance plan, including the deductible and co-pay, or patient percentage. We are happy to check with your insurance company to determine the terms of your coverage. Payment for patient responsibility is due at the time of service.
