Christopher Wolfinger
PT, DPT, ATC, Clinic Director
Chris grew up in Pleasanton, California, where he played competitive baseball through high school and continued playing ice hockey through college. He went on to attend San Diego State University, earning his B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training. During his time at SDSU, he gained hands-on experience as an athletic training intern with the San Diego Chargers.
He later completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of the Pacific, where he further expanded his sports medicine background through internships at EXOS in Los Angeles and with the San Francisco Giants. After graduating, Chris served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League before transitioning into the sports and outpatient physical therapy setting, where he continues to practice today.
From 2018 to 2024, Chris worked closely with the City of Sacramento Fire Department, helping support firefighter recruits through injury prevention programming during fire academy training. This experience fostered a passion for serving tactical athletes and understanding the unique physical demands of the fire service. Since then, Chris has focused extensively on the evaluation and treatment of work-related injuries, developing his "Industrial Athlete" approach to rehabilitation and return-to-work programming specifically for firefighters and other physically demanding professions.
Committed to advanced professional development, Chris completed the NAIOMT Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program in July 2026 and plans to sit for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Sports Certified Specialist (SCS) examination in March 2027.
Chris is also a published author of the research article, "Comparison Between Disability, Physical Performance, and Other Biopsychosocial Factors in Full-Duty Career Firefighters Working With and Without Current Low Back Pain," which is indexed in the National Library of Medicine. His clinical interests include occupational medicine, sports rehabilitation, injury prevention, performance optimization, and helping individuals safely return to the activities and careers they are passionate about.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids, especially while supporting their baseball, basketball, soccer, and musical theater activities. He stays active through fitness training, golfing, and snowboarding.
